Another 3rd Gen or Land Cruiser?

I am selling my 98 4Runner, and was all ready to go with a 4th Gen V8, but for some reason, I want to get a newer 3rd Gen. I just like the way they look. I like the 4th Gen a lot, but the 3rd seem...more rugged? Then of course, I've always loved the Land Cruisers. If I got an LC, I'd get a 96-97 with the FR/RR lockers. I just love the way they look.

My situtation is, I mostly do normal commuting on a daily basis. I'm not going to turn whatever I buy into a trail rig. Maybe a modest lift, tires and little exterior mods (sliders, fogs, etc.) I'd like something that's comfortable for driving daily. Both fit the category very well. Something that will do well off road. Again, both will be fine. But I think the 4Runner will be a better vehicle, because it gets better gas mileage. I've been getting 20-21MPG (mostly highway, but cruising at good speeds (75+MPH)). The LC's get 15-17MPG.

I looked at a few 2000-2002 4Runner Limited's today and I thought I was all set to go. Until I saw a 96 LX450. It looked great. I just absolutely love how it looks. Then I saw a lady driving an LC, lifted with a snorkel running up the side. That thing looked riiiiiiiiiiidiculous.

The 4Runner, however, will be a better decision, because it's newer and gets better mileage. Probably cheaper parts, as well. And though it looked cool, I don't need a friggin snorkel running up the side...do I?

So I'm not posting this to get opinions on what I should do. I just need someone to say, "you idiot, just get the 4Runner." After I do, I know I'll be happy, but it's hard to decide, especially everytime I pass an LC. Someone kick me in the pants, quick!

Oh, and if this is better suited in the Offtopic area, please move it. I apologize in advance if that's where it belonged in the first place.

If I'm ever in Dallas, I'm gonna find you and beat your #@$.

On a side note, that guy's from Utah. Almost looks like the lady's LC I saw.

Hmm...well, if I get an LC, I'm getting a Civic with it.

This is the "S" BOMB you want!

i need a smoke now.... mmmmm thats sexy, with a 2.8l turbo diesel, some ppl get 40mpg with those..... DAMN THATS HOT! For some reason i dont think that would need a snorkel. Its on the terra site below....mmmmmm check these sites out, import turbo diesels, mid 30's mpg for a full size LC! Not sure how it would work importing to the US though....

THis is a tuff one for me to. I sort of want a LC now that I am getting more into the trails stuff. More room, solid axles and front and rear lockers. Kinda hard to turn that down.

How about you buy my rig already built and then I go get a LC and build it?
