Am I getting a fair deal??

I'm new to the Toyata world and trying to find a truck to purchase. I def want a V-6, std trans, 4X4, Ext-Cab. I have been finding it difficult to locate one with decent miles. Yesterday I found a red Tacoma 1999 model. It says SR% on the tailgate, but noting on the bed sides to indicate it has the TRD package. Red ext, grey interior, 5 spr, V-6 with 89,000 miles. I can drive it off the lot for $11,000 including TT&L. This seems high because it books loweer than that, but they seem to demand a higher value than book. This truck has manual windows and locks as well. Does this sound like a reasonable deal ($10,200 + TT&L) or am I getting hosed? Should I get the $1500 ext warranty? Any advice is welcome.

Thats not really that high with the miles it was. Toyotas are generaly very valuable trucks, I paid 7k for my T100 which is not only rare but had 180k on it (new engine with 50k tho) about 3 years ago so your price isnt to far off.

Although manual windows and locks drops the value imho, I would see if they will take 9500 and bicker the price back and forth till you get what you want. I would def go with the warranty if its worth a damn, nothing like someone else having to fix your truck for free.

For a 10 year old truck with only 89K that is only 9K a year on it. SR-5 not not necessarily mean TRD. look to see if you have a switch (pushbutton) for a Rear Differential Lock. $800 above book to me does not seem that bad, especially if it is a truck you are having a difficult time finding. I guess it all depends on the market area you are in. I just did the KBB.com for what you described and it came back with a retail price of $9500 --that is for Portland, Oregon. Toyotas have always been a popular truck around here so there are usually a few to choose from. Now sure how much the TT&L is for you. The $11k is the best they will do for you?

I have mixed feelings about the extended warranty. I have bought them a couple of times and not used them. My sister bought one on a Camry and it ended being worth it, she ended up with a new engine so it paid for itself for her. And a friend used it for a transmission... Kind of a crap shoot, but could be worth it on a 10 year old vehicle...
