Actual Tire Size 33"= 32" ???

Hey guys, I just purchased new 33x12.5x15 BFGs ATs for the tacoma on 15x8 wheels, the question or problem is... that they seem a LOT smaller than my old 33x12.5x15 BFGs MTs monunted on the same wheels, in fact almost an inch smaller, they measure 32" across ? Tire rack says (32.7" bfg AT) and (32.8" bfg MT), can anyone confirm this from their own experience ? I started to puschase the nittos terra grapplers, but had few concerns about them, namely the fact that they dont show a 33x12.5x15 on their site, but discount could get them = old tire stock to me, I want the tallest 33" AT quality tire possible. I spoke with discount tire about this size concern, they said which ones do you want ? Should they stay or should they go ? Thanks

Thats commen for the tires to be a bit smaller than they say. As far as beening an inch smaller than your old MT's I dont know why, probably the lugs on the MT's add a bit. I would go with the BFG AT, they are a great tire.

I have had two other set of BFG ATs on my past toyota, so ya... I think its a great tire, it just seemed small (32") and a little wimpy after the MTs, I called discount today, after lots of research I ordered the 33x12.5x15 Cooper discoverer STTs for a little extra $$$, I think they will perform very well in all conditions and look great, I also have new wheels arriving this week, AR-23 15x10's, its gonna be a sweet. (soon to be for sale, the 15x8 MB motoring overdrives.

discount tire's physical store is great. I have had awesome customer service with them...they even gave me a free hardly used 305/70/16 so I could get back home. Now, Nitto as a company really sucks. There is no better adj. to describe them expect for poor. Thier customer adjustments department is headed by 1 guy. And he gives me the run around.

Discount tire Direct and Discount tire CO are two seperate subsidiaries but are under the same corporation. If I were you, see if they have a discount tire company physical store near you, if they do, go with them. If not, you might want to re-consider buying from them.

As far as sizes...Mts will be slightly larger due to the lug size. I actually might be switching to the BFG AT. There is no better AT tire out there. I thought the Nittos were great...apparently they expect them to start dry rotting at 10k. Nitto tire company really does suck.

If you want an MT...BFG MT's are awesome.

I've got about 15k on my Nittos and they still look new and they've been off road more than a few times in a bit over a year. Nittos are a much better on-road performer than BFGs by far from my personal experiences and off road are pretty comprable and at $200 cheaper out the door I couldn't pass up the Nittos.

Are you measuring the tire on the truck or off the truck?

The tire's are gonna be the same size, the only reason they would be any bigger is because the M/T's have more tread sticking out all around, I have had both A/T', and M/T's and trust me when I say they are the same. Its all appearence.

and yes the Nitto tires arnt that great they start to cup if you dont stay on your rotations because they are a heavier tire.
