Accidentally put in reverse 4 runner.
I have a 94 4 Runner, I was driving home with my family and girlfriend. I was low on fuel, so I decided to put into " N" as I've done many time before going downhill. But somehow I managed to put into " R" at 30 mph
, realizing my error I switched it back quickly before it engaged fully.
Do the 2ng gens have a safety switch that wouldn't allow engagement? Or was I just quick about switching it back? Lesson learned don't mess around with a automatic. ! What can of damage should I expect? I got back home and it seems fine through R, D.

I know gas is expensive that is why I no longer drive unless I have to but how can you get that low on fuel with the girl friend and family??
Then you did have lots of help to push.
I saw something like that happen just took out the weakest part of the driveline which was the rear u-joint .
It must have been in need of replacing just was unable to take the torque.
They managed to get it into gear though.
