85 22r missing at 2000rpm

Just rebuilt it (just shy of 400,000 miles), doing fine except it has bad miss at 2000rpms. No miss above or below. I'm thinking old carb or emmision stuff?! This happens only when it's at operating temp. It is also getting hot if I have to idle (like in traffic). I replaced everything but the waterpump on the cooling system with the rebuild, the waterpump was fairly new before. Any helpful ideas on what's going on?

If your sure that the timing and the valves are set properly, then the miss is probably being caused by the stock carb. If you can, get a weber carb and once you get it tuned you will get better mileage and more power from it. As for it over heating, do you have the fan shroud in place ?, is the radiator in good shape ?, what about the thermostat ?.

Definately thinking stock carb on the miss, I know I better go weber! The radiator, thermostat, cap, are new. The water pump was replaced before the rebuild (maybe 5000 miles on it). The fan shroud is in place. The fan clutch is fairly new, have replaced several of those over the years!!

I guess it did, but not this bad. It's so smooth above or below the 2000.

i had a chevy v-6 that would stumble at the same rpm each time ,and it turn out to be a worn dist. i haven't heard of a yota doing this, but i guess it could be possible with as many miles that are on yours.

The distributor is new. Actually think it's the stock carb. I put a kit on it several years ago, need to go Weber.
