Question 4runner Supercharger?

Alright so here is the deal, im 17 and about to get ready for college, right now im in my dads 2008 4x4 f150 lariat to get me through highschool. He said i can get a college car before my leave and my choices are a Tacoma, 4runner, Jeep Wrangler, f150, or Grand Cherokee. I love the 4runner but i cant decide! My options (for a 4runner) are this:
1.) Buy a 4th gen 4runner (v6 or v8) and have no money for modifications
or 2.) Buy a 3rd gen 4runner and load it up with mods!
Also, i am in love with the idea of putting a super charger on! Now i have been looking for a super charger (TRD) for the 4th gen and have found nothing, but of course there are plenty for the 3rd gen. So what should i do? i have heard btw that 3rd gens are slow as hell and weak, can i mod them up to par with the more powerful 4th gens? Should i get a weak, cheap, more modifiable 3rd gen. Or a stock 4th gen? PLEASE HELP ME

The 3rd gens are not weak, to be honest I believe that the 3.4L is a stronger motor than the 4.0L, although neither are bad choices.

Also, my 3.4L 1997 4Runner is not slow, I have a TRD supercharger with some mods and she puts down around 240whp.

My vote is for the 3rd gen.

I think you are confusing 2nd Gen 4runners with a 3.0 as being the turd.

I think your info is wrong. 3rd gens have a huge following and are far from weak.....

I probably am, I really like both, but I'm just not sure. Are the 3rd gens fast enough to pull past someone? I'm pretty sure with the supercharger it can bring the 0-60 to atleast 7-8 seconds right? Of course other mods will be added but I just want to be sure I can get the power i need if I go with the 3rd, or if I should stick with a stock 4th gen

Lol, I think you have a lot of reading to do. Hit up t4r.org too. Tons of info there. My 3.4 moves quiet well. I do enjoy my 4.0 too....

be prepared to add on atleast $1500 worth of supporting mods just for the supercharger. This does not include the cost of the supercharger, the mandatory premium fuel, or the tuning/dyno costs. Just FYI...

In all honesty, the sc on a 3.4 basically makes it on par with the 4.0 as far as power goes. Get newer, then save for mods so you can take the time to research everything you could ever want to do.

I'm glad I put he TRD supercharger on my 2003 V8. Drove a 2016 4Runner, told the salesman to get it off the 'Eco' mode there's no power. There is no eco mode, it just flashes when you drive good. That was all the power it had. I'm keeping my '03
