4Runner might be dead...thinking about a RAV4

I'll be finding out this week from my mechanic buddy if my 2000 4Runner has given up the ghost or if it is even long for this world.

With my current job the gas mileage was killing me anyway. Have you guys had experience with the RAV4? Tell me your thoughts.

We have an 05 Rav4, its great if you don't plan on carrying a ton or doing any major offroading. Very comfortable, zippy even with the 4 cylinder. Gets about 27 mpg. We've even used it to haul the snowmobiles in the winter.

Off-road would be limited to driving in shallow snow on lakes occasionally for fishing and dry fields for hunting if conditions permit. Mostly a highway queen that needs to be able to haul the canoe and the carrier on the back for deer.

Zippy v6!

Rumor has it 2012 is the last year of the v6......

Did you end up getting one?

Took ours to Oregon and back a few weeks back and it did great. 24 MPG this time, with the mountains

Still loving it after ~8,000 miles.
