30K auto tranny flush

I just did 30k work on my 2004 taco. Put in new plugs, went with synthetic redline gear oil in the diff, and flushed the tranny. I used 17 quarts of toyota type IV ATF fluid. I drained the AT pan and refuilled. I then pulled the return line from my AT cooler and put it in a bucket and had a helper start and stop the engine while I added more ATF to the dipstick. Did this several times and got all the juice out. The only thing was, the old fluid looked bright red like it dind't even need to be done. Plus the dipstick says never needs to be changed under normal conditions. Any comments on this? I've done all the reading on the subject here, but still not sure if 30K is the right time to do the tranny flush. Nothing like spending 75$ on tranny fluid...

Edit: and by the way, my girl friend's manual civic takes two quarts of tranny juice and that is for the tranny and diff !!!

better to spend 75 than 3000 when your tranny dies.

I would do it 30-40k

Yup, cheap insurance for avoiding chatastrophic tranny failure (but it sounds like you may be able to go 40k or more, depending on driving style). Better to do it and not need it, than need it and not do it (and all that jazz).
