"up and running" wise is still just a hair of a "finger's crossed!" right now.

By the time I got home and figured out the neutral thing, it was pretty late. Too late to go back to DD's and test the theory.

I got an email from him this morning though confirming that yes, _we_ (though he's claiming 'twas only me!) were pretty spent, and... yes, the transfer case was in neutral. He figured it out as well - after an hour of sleep.

So... I'll head over there tonight and start the burnout in front of his place. The update here tonight should be pretty cheery, full of "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THE DIFFERENCE IN THIS TRANNY!" and "OMG! THESE CAMS RAWK!" and "OMG! SO THAT'S WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE WITHOUT A BURNED VALVE!" and "OMG! THERE'S NO WAY I WAS GOING THAT FAST OFFICER!".

It should be entertaining.

And...

It runs.

It's REALLY tight, you can feel it in how little "roll" there is in the engine. You back off the gas and it really slows down.

The tranny shifts are SUPERB. They're too hard for a Soccer Wagon, but I'm gonna LOVE them. Nice firm shifts - *ALL* of the slipping that I (already) had on the 2nd tranny from 1st->2nd is GONE. I would venture a guess and say that if I had done this with my old tranny, even when it was slipping it's worst, I would NOT have had to replace the tranny.

Power/cams/etc wise, it's hard to say. I mean, the engine has like 10 miles on it. That'll have to wait.

The only bummer right now is that the Windows license on my truck computer expired (I knew it would) and the activation refuses to take the new product key. The India support at MSFT _SUCKS_ - I was on with them for 30 minutes trying to explain what was up. We'd get to a point in their script that wasn't covered and they'd say "okay, lets start over. please reboot your computer." LADY - I'M IN A TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY. LISTEN. TO. ME!!!

Anyway... I won't have tunes until I can pull the PC and re-install Windows.

THANK YOU JOHNNY!
THANK YOU TERRY!

and... THANK YOU DARYL!!!

I'll keep updating this thread over the next couple of days as things settle in.

WOO-HOO!

woot great to hear man!
The best time to feel power come on is half-3/4 throttle starting at a lower RPM you will feel a pull at around 3000rpm...at least it really feels that way in mine. At wot its power all the way and you dont feel it as much.

im dieing to take my taco to the dyno with these cams N/A becuase i KNOW that this truck is pulling WAY harder then it used to stock....i clocked the 0-60 times at 7.2seconds thats 1 second faster then i clocked it stock. I don't know but its driving me crazy. One day ill have the time/money to run to the dyno.

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.... There's this nice long stretch of empty road on my way to work. It's a good mile or so. I mean, what harm could a little kick at 35mph do?

Turn the corner onto the road, cruising at about 35, check that the radar detector is on, look around, and ... punch it just below WOT.
Power...
Pull. Pull, 3500...
Pull, Pull 4500...
Pull, 5000..
Pull, 5400 !!SHIFT!!
4600 Pull, Pull, Pull, 5400 !!SHIFT!!
4600 Pull, !!BRAKES!!
Holy Bajeezus Batman

STRONG SHARP SHIFTS - KILLER shifts. Nothing but pull EVERYWHERE. Pull IMMEDIATELY after shift.

Holy Bajeezus Batman

Johnny... there is a HUGE difference. The truck NEVER pulled so consistently all the way to the top. Simply KILLER. NICE job man!

I can't wait to see the power curve on a dyno. It's gonna be a very smooth line!

pssssssssssst... don't tell Daryl, 'cause he'll just shake his head at me, but...

...I can burn rubber from a standing start. No brake torque required.

Kinda' happened by accident, and I won't be making a habit of it, but it was fun.

Johnny? Is that you? You know I'm running well loaded with a SC, fuel mods, Supra MAF, etc...

fwiw, this was a 4Runner, with an auto, YOUR CAMS, on dry pavement, level ground, stock gearing, with BFG MT's. I hit the pedal, the drivetrain locked up hard, spun the rears, and I got a BIG ass grin.

haha awesome for some reason i thought you took it off.
Thats great to hear!
Tacomas have trouble keeping the power on the ground Just tailspin...

Its nice feeling isn't it!! POWER! These cams rock ESPECIALLY in an auto because of the stall speed....you launch at 2-3k rpm where the peak torque just went up a decent amount with those cams.

Glad you are enjoying them!

Remember that I also have the Level 10 modified torque converter. I get locked up a bit sooner than stock so that the SC has something to pull against.

Flash and Stall are higher - I know what flash is, but I'm thinking that's also related to full lock-up. I may be wrong, of course.
