The 265/75R 16 M/T Tire Thread
After doing some heavy reading here on YT, I've decided against 285's. Just don't want to hassle with trimming, wheels, spacers and a-arms. That means I'll be staying with 265's, because I know they'll fit and will be fine off road. Anyhow, here's a list of M/T tires I've gathered so far. Please add any I've missed and what your experiences are with any brands listed. This will help me (and I'm sure many others) decide which tires to go with in the future.
Firestone Destination M/T
Goodyear Wrangler MTR
Maxxis Buckshot M/T
Maxxis Bighorn M/T
Cooper Discoverer STT
Super Swamper Trxus MT
Summit Mud Dawg
Dayton Timberline M/T
Bridgestone Dueler M/T
Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ
Procomp Mud Terrain
Procomp Extreme Mud Terrain

I know these aren't M/T's, but from everything I've read/searched, they're an awesome compromise. I've been running a set of LT265/75R16 Cooper S/T's (6 ply) for a 1½ months now and they're smooth as silk on road. Its been pretty dry here lately, so I can't comment on how they do in sloppy offroad gunk:

A buddy of mine runs them on his Frontier and swears by them. He's been running a set for over three years (45+K on the current set) and gets into some pretty nasty stuff, especially during the fall/winter months. Tire noise isn't bad either...

with a 4" spacer and coil lift, your trimming will be minimal... pounding the pinch weld should take care of a majority of your rubbing.
also, you missed the Trxus M/T's
as for my experience:
-Goodyear MTR's: I liked these tires as an AT, but in the wet NE climate, they were slicks. Stick with them if you plan to climb dry rocks. Otherwise, skip em.
-Procomp MT's: I have these on now, they did GREAT in all different situations. I am in need of new tires, and was strongly considering getting new ones, but decided to go with the cheaper yet better lug-pattern Trxus MTs.

toyo mts are another tire, yet very expensive, they give as good of a ride on road as the stock wrangler hts give. and have awesome offroad traction and tread design.
mtrs.. mine dont do well in wet weather at all, wearing a little fast too and are soft compound

Another good option is the Cooper STT clones I have.
Made by Cooper in their modes.
These are the Dick Cepek Mountaincats.
They are distributed through Les Schwab Tire Centers, but I do not see one for your state.
You might find them somewhere though.
Awesome tires, nice low loud hum, and great in the rain.
Took less weight to balence these than the stock tires that came on my rig.
I like them so well I am getting a second set this spring with new wheels and keep my current set for fall through spring only.
3.1 MB each, HUGE

You missed the Kumho M/T's I had a set and they never slipped on the rock and the lugs cleaned out great in wet muddy conditions, put 30k on them and still have over 40%tread wear left...hard to believe.

I would have to say go with the BFG M/T if you have the extra money to spend. It is a longer lasting tire and also has great traction on/off road in any weather. Most of the other M/T's on the market are a really heavy tire and give you horrible on road rides, and wear out faster because of cupping and uneaven wear. just my 2 cents
