22re repairs
hello all, im new here and grateful for the forum. my old 93 4x4 pickup finally gave problems after about 200k
thanks to the forum i decided it was head gasket issue. im pretty much sight challenged now and dont have anything but florida sand to work in after getting single again. i did mange to keep my truck so all is good hahaha
anyway it was the head gasket as i was losing collant and it not showing up anywhere. when i would start up in the morning it would stumble and then clear up so i parked until we could tow it to the neighbors small shop (about 700 yards away)
napa did the head and pressure test showed it was fine (glad i parked the truck quickly and did not damage it) getting valve job , pressure test and resurfacing was 114.00
and 1 day turn around. that made me happy
i was prolly just still happy from finding out the head was ok
it sure was pretty all cleaned up in the plastic bag
i got a new water pump , new timing chain set, new head bolts of course, all new hoses and belts, plugs cap and wires, with the head gasket set and timing gasket set plus oil filter and new coolant and a fuel filter $386.00
neighbor charged 500.00 for the repair including welding up the leaking exaust pipe
right under the manifold. so i thought that was fair.
the cylinder walls were very smooth with no ridges or grooves. so im hoping i can get another 200k out of my old sweetie
its been a really fine truck and sold me on toyota forever. like i said im sight challenged
and my driving days may end at any time
but ill still keep it. i got it in 95 with 60k on the speedo. and it has never given me 1 bit of trouble but i do try to maintain it too
ill keep you all posted on how things go when he gets it back together. a dodge guy i know says the bottom end will let go soon after me doing the top end but i think thats just him being sorry he has a gas hungry dodge thats not paid for and will get stuck in
rural parking lots around here
im old now and not hard on machines like my younger days so i think my old truck will last probably longer than i will. im also hoping ill get some more milage as the machine shop man at napa said 2 of the exaust vales were pretty well done
i would like to ask what you guys estimate the speedo differance would be with 31x10.50x15 over the stock tires that came with my truck? im trying to figure how many miles i really do have on this truck. thank you for any input
ill post some pics of my rig when she returns
thanks again for letting me in here.
obrien florida 32071 and the reason for this is if any of you ever get over this way , ill take you fishing on suwannee lake or for a ride down on the suwannee river. the 1947 feathercraft awaits but ony if you wheel up in a toyota
