Well I've been doing some searching all over the net to find some info on the next (5th) generation of the 4Runner and apart from a couple of possible "spy shots" and a ton of speculation, there isn't much solid information out there.

The latest info I have found (again this is all by word-of-mouth) is this:

Official info will be released end of July 2009
Start of production will be in August 2009
It will be available by October 2009

Major changes will be:
-"Enhanced rugged sporty styling - returning to it's roots"
-"New 4.0L V-6 268hp/273ft-lbs tq" or "New 2.7L I4 161hp/184ft-lbs tq"
-"Available 50:50 split fold flat 3rd row seats"
-"Available back-up camera"
-"Available 20" wheels"
-"Available sliding rear cargo deck (440lbs max)

-"New off-road options include:"
-"Crawl Control"
-"Multi-terrain assist"
-"KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System)
-"Active Traction Control"

Who knows if any of this is at all factual but I thought I would share it anyway. If anyone has any solid facts on the next generation 4Runner, and who knows if there is even going to be a next one, let us in on it.
