1st and 2nd Gen People, Gas Mileage?

Well, fuel is killing me in my v8 Jeep. Think I might have to go back to a Toyota (something drivable this time).

I'm curious what the 1st and 2nd gen Truck (4Runners too but I'd like a truck) are getting out of the tank of petrol.
Looking for numbers from stock trucks and modified ones too (proving your re-geared, especially interested in trucks with 35-37" tires and 5.29s)

Thanks in advance!

I'm paying 95+ in the Jeep and it's lasting me 500km.
I just can't do this.

Well, I'm getting between 17 and 18 mpg (mixed driving), '05 runner, 3.0, 31's, 4.88 geating, auto tranny.
You won't pick up much of anything over the Jeep I don't believe.
I was getting a little less with the built (35's, 4.56, auto, 4.0L) '98 TJ that I had for some years.

That doesn't tell us the mpg (or kpg or kpl whatever) that you're actually getting.

Do you know how to measure the actual that you're getting ?

my 93 auto gets around 16..give or take, my 94 5spd...dunno the actual mileage yet, but I have gone 250mi on just over 1/2 tank...thats a whole lot better than the 93(150 1/2 tank), so I'm gonna guess its around 20mpg. the 93 is on 235's and the 94 is on 31's

Believe it or not I get 20+ mpg in my 4Runner. Thats mixed driving highway and city. My rig is a 1985 4Runner, 22RE, 5-speed, 9 inch lift, 33x12.5x15 tires, 437 gears front & rear w/ lockers. I have my head polished and I think that might help out. I also put a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in every third tank or so.

This is what I want, actual numbers.

That's a cheaper then my Jeep. I'm currently driving like a little old lady and still getting crappy mileage.

Yeah, it costs me about $70-80us, to fill my tanks, the auto gets between 250-275mi to the tank, and the 5spd is at 250, and still has more than a quarter tank left, so I guess ill prob get over 300 out of it.

believe it or not my 87 runners last tank got me 27 mpg

probably a fluke. 22re 31s 4.10s just put a new 02 sensor and a detroit in the back though

usually get around 16 mpg (w/ bad 02 sensor)

With my 30 x 9.50 x 15 i averaged 12-13 MPG. Now with 33" i am gettong 11 MPG. It's a V6 and auto, so I need some gears next to restore pep and hopefully get better MPG.

Hope it helps.

I average about 21 mpg with my '85 22RE Truck: manual trans, 30x9.5" tires, and 4.10 gears. It's 50/50 city and highway.
