16 x 7 Steelies

Hi folks,

Just joined the forum. While I am not a Yota guy, I do love Toyotas, and if I wasn't already an Isuzu guy I would likely be in a LC of some sort.

Anyway, I am building my 91 Trooper up expedition style and I am looking for a very simple steel rim in 16 x 7. What I have been seeing that suits my needs are the older 16 x 7 Toyota steel wheels, however I *think* these are actually for spare tires.

Now, my question is, being that these wheels are designed for spares, are they still as "stout" so to speak as a regular wheel? I would be looking at running a full set of these rims with either Toyo or BFG mudders in 255/85 R16 full time for on and off road applications. I can't see why these would not work, but I figured I would ask on here before I pull the trigger on a set of these.

Here is a pic of the wheels I am wondering about.

Any info about these wheels and their ruggedness would be much appreciated!!

Thanks -Bart

(PS - I know this probably belongs in the wheels and tires section, but...)

Those are just base model wheels. They are not designed for spares, they are designed for any tire that will fit.
