i was thinking, instead of drilling a 3" hole, what about 4 1 1/4" holes and then bend the remaing sheetmetal out of the way and stick a screw thru it into the abs. that would secure the abs to the sheetmetal for sure...

The silicon also helps prevent water from entering the cab. I could have cut the hole a bit smaller, then hammer formed it to fit around the tube, but it wasn't needed.

heres anouther pretty cool home done job this is probably what I'll wind up doing. He says he did it because of the police style spot light on the pillar so he couldnt use a regular one.

Just a thought but you guy might want to consider putting a threaded plug on the cab end. That way you can just thread the plug on when you want the cab sealed. Definitely more solid than rags. I'm thinking of the access cap to your home's sewer line. That type of threaded cap. Just a thought.

Thought of that already, but the heater fan assembly is in the way and you can't access it. Even thought of installing a butterfly valve with a cable actuator, but for now the rag works.....

Any suggestions on how to fab this in-cab snorkel mod when a K&N air charger is replacing the OEM air intake? Are there snorkels for cone filters?

You'll need to build an air tight box around the cone first......
