08 Highlander Hybrid warning

Dealer tells me switching out the oil pump on my 08 Highlander Hybrid will cure the problem of the indicator warning to "Check Hybrid System". Don't get the connection.
Those batteries have a life expectancy of over 100,000 and my cars at nearly twice that so I thought the battery might be dying. Hate to spend $1500+ on the oil pump replacement for nothing. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I have no idea what the connection is (if any) to the oil pump and the "Check Hybrid System" warning.

What you need is to find out what the dealership found during the diagnostic process.

If there is a warning light on on the dash, their is almost always at least one code stored in the cars computer system that triggers the warning light to be commanded on.

The technician should have hooked up a scan tool, read codes and probably looked at some live data.

The code(s) and live data give the technician some direction to start figuring out the problem. There are many codes that could trigger that warning, so it is impossible for me to say what fault is causing the system to turn on the warning light.

I'm sure you're right about the codes. At rhis point, it's a done deal and there's no warning light. The thing is I have long experience with the dealer and trust them so I'm moving on without pushing for answers.
Looks like we'll be trading it in. Thanks for your thoughts.

Likely means the transaxle oil pump, you can see it at 1:11:00 in this vid

That price sounds pretty fair considering the labor involved. Honestly not sure what could go wrong with these but doubtful it's the pump assembly itself, probably something related like the coolant passages or, less likely IMO, one of the electrical sensors. Did you refill the coolant (antifreeze) system on this yourself, or have any sketchy shops do it? Maybe use green antifreeze or non-distilled water?
