I'm just curious if those of you who have had previous compact Toyota trucks (89-95 P/U or 95.5-04 Tacoma's) in the xtra cab configuration, if you own or have sat in the back of the newer 05+ Tacoma's jump seats in the access cab, if you could offer a comparison perhaps.

Or even if you haven't owned a previous generation Toyota compact truck, perhaps just offer your thoughts on the access cab's rear seats? Are they somewhat bearable?

The reason I ask is this. I am thinking down the line for when I want to get my next truck. Yeah this is over a year away at least, but being guys we think about this type of crap. I currently have a 93 pickup, xtra cab, V6, 4x4, etc. and I am debating whether to make a change to a double cab, or if the access cabs. As you know many b*tch about how the jump seats in my generation of truck, as well as the 95.5-04 Tacoma's, as being torture (I dont' mind it actually and I've sat back where while my brother drove my truck). So I want to hear your input.

The 6' box is important to me too, so that is why I would prefer an access cab, and avoid having to go to the double cab long box, if at all possible just for cost reasons, ease of driving around town, etc

Also, if you fold your access cab seats down, could you lay down back there?
How long would you feel comfortabe driving around back there if you had the front seats up just a little bit for leg room, etc. ?
