zero point calibration

dealership performed a zero point calibration on my 2004 sr5 v6 4x4 4runner to stop a wheel thump noise in rear, said it was performed to syn steering with brakes in rear. it seemed to work, said battery voltage may have dropped causing computer to erase the calibration. confusing to me, is this a common problem and is there anything i can do to keep it from happening again?( thump noise was usually on wet mornings and after i would run it thru the car wash in cold weather. also it would always go away after driving a few miles making me think it was a calipper sticking or something, and it only thumped going backward, never going forward.
