Window won't open or close

My rear window on my 86' 4Runner won't open or close when i use the key on the tailgate. But it will work when i use the interior switch. This just happened today. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how can i fix it?

Yeah but the strange thing is that it just stopped working randomly one day (a few days ago…)

Red face

It sounds like the switch just died since it works from inside . Real easy to take apart and check out

I have a similar issue. my window will not go up or down with either of the switch or key. worked fine 2 days ago. got it to go down by jumping it from inside so it is not the motor.

Exclamation Went wheeling now rear window doesnt work

Yeah lots of window problems goin on I guess. I went wheelin 2 weeks ago took my topper off so I wouldn't be sweatin like a pregnant woman and left it off over night it rained but I was camped out in the back of the truck with my sweet tent setup so water damage isn't likely. So I put my top back on like I have done before. Now no window control from inside cab or tg. My rear wiper doesn't even work now. Checked for blown fuses no luck. Check and rechecked kill switch at rear of bed looks good. I've had a tarp on my truck for 2 weeks now. What is going on? What could cause this. Also I dig drag and hit my rear bumper a few good times on some big rocks. Checked the rear glass and its on track. No tg damage either

Yeah my 86 sometimes throws a fit when I use the key, goes down always but sometimes not up. I think it just has its moments, but its probably a connection issue with the back key switch.

Got it! "A bolt" link was messed up. I even read this page before I did the search too. Had to take the side covers off to get to the connection
