Like the consistency of clay. On both the male and the female side. Is it di electric grease? is it normal? I was having funky symptoms that possibly made me think it was alt.? will try and get a pic on here tonight.

 

Sounds like dielectric grease

 

Ya it is di electric grease should I clean it out and reapply? and how so? will baking soda and water work or should I use some sort of electric cleaner? Maybe MAF cleaner? should all connections have di electric? alt., ps pump, starter, AC unit? I have had my motor rebuilt and putting it back in Truck has 244,000 miles on it

 

MAF cleaner should be fine or something like CRC Electronic Parts Cleaner. I tend to put a light smear on the female side of all connectors so when it pushes over the male metal slot it leaves a bit where the connectors mate. On the alternator, I use a light coat over the nut on the connection to keep moisture out. Also, a light coat up in the boots of the spark plug cables. Others may have differing opinions, but these methods have worked well for me.

 

I would try clening it out with electrical contact cleaner but DONT soak it down you should be able to spray it and it should practically melt off per say but i would put it in any connection exposed to the elements itll DEFINATLY help keep out corrosion buld up between your contacts
