Where is the dip stick located on a 3.0?
Ok maybe I'm a dipstick, I dont know. I just bought an 88 sr5 with the 3.0 v6. Im in the garage this weekend doin the oil change and cant find the friggin dip stick. This truck is in really decent body and interior shape. The motor runs very good, and tranny s great (MT). I have new tires, aftermarket rims etc... It was a steal at 1500 bux for only havin 120k miles on it. PICS COMIN SOON! Anyway back to the main prob. I can't find the dipstick, maybe it was lost and never put back, can someone post a pic of where it would be at on the 3.0L v6? Thanx. Or email me a pic of it? ajaxdaman01@yahoo.com

never heard of not being able to find a dipstick before...
i don't have a 3.0, but on the 22re, it pokes you in the face if you try to work on the distributor and spark plugs...
Please go back, look at the engine carefully and find it, unless it really isn't there and in that case, i feel bad for you.

Ya know, when I bought my '89 4Runner 3.0, I had a hard time finding the damn thing myself the first time.
Behind the distributor, of all places, and down too low, so it hides. It hides between the rubber intake tube and the distributor (the intake tube is not in the photo below, so it can't hide as well.
If it is an auto, the trans dipstick is even lower and more hidden in the D-side.
In the pic below, the yellow thing behind the distributor is the dipstick.

With the distributor removed:

Great Photo I need one just like it to install my tranny tube because the PO didn't have a clue and had it wedged in so that you couldn't pull the dipstick out. Any one have a photo similar to above but with trans tube routing shown? BTW 92 T4R w/3.0
