Cool what would be the best engine for my 81 4X4

i just got an 81 that i wan't to start building up. I don't know a lot at all about working on trucks at all. but i do know the old motor is worn, i have to turn up the cardorator a little start it and let it run for a bit then turn it down.....

i wan't to be able to just fire it up and not worry about the motor.

so just wondering what is a good toyota motor, i wan't to be able to do a little crawling.
and what would i all have to change?
roughly what $$ you think?

any info would help

That's a broad question and "what you would all have to change" depends on what engine you get and what engine you have now. A 20R to a 22R/22RE conversion should be pretty straight forward. If you're looking to do a Chevy 350 V8 swap then you're looking at a bit more work. Maybe try and post this kind of question in the section called "Engine Swaps": https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f158/
