What is this wire?

I must have broken off the connector at some point…. Any idea? It is a California 4wd 89 pickup 22RE.




it is the broken one I’m holding.


Does it go here??

What color is the wire???

It would help a lot to know the color of that wire, and if it has a color strip on it (such as; white with red stripe). Also, it looks like your third picture is of your A/C compressor where the refrigerant hoses are attached. Could the wire be your A/C compressor clutch power wire? If you start your engine and try to turn on the A/C, but it doesn't run, then that's probably your answer.

Thanks for the reply. The wire is black with a white tracer. I can’t start it up right now, I have the intake manifold off.

The other wire, is it green with red hashes painted on it? If so it is the cold start time switch. It is on the front of the block, below and to the right of the air intake on the manifold (facing the engine). There are two sensors there. The other one is to left and is the coolant temperature sensor.
