I recently bought two solid axles from a guy for 300 dollars, I was told they both had detroits and 5.29's. I bought them cause it was a good deal and thought one day I will put them under a truck. I took the rear axle apart which had downey rear disc brake conversion and all the gm parts there like the caliper, rotors, etc... so that was a plus, anyways i pulled the axles which were good, then the third, much to my disgust the first thing i saw were broken teeth, they were 5.29 gears and the locker was no detroit that ive ever seen, the pinion gear was ok but the wear marks were a mile off, I have a picture of the locker that is in both front and rear axle, is it a lock right? Now for the front axle I pulled that apart fairly easier the axles looked good and I think they are stock birfields? Picture below, This third had the same locker and 5.29 gears that were not broken, the wear marks looked center but a little shallow, perhaps i can fix that myself I don't know. The gears are U.S gears. So anyways the pictures below are of the locker and axles, can someone reassure me what axles they are and what type of locker? Thanks in advance.

 

Detroit has an autolocker like that. Those look like stock birfs.

Sucks he sold you broken gears but you still got a killer deal as i'm sure you know.

ya i might part the axles and stuff out or have some 5.29s set up in the other carrier idk yet, I had a guy that wants to sell me a running stock 86 toy along with half tread 38.5 super swampers on rims for a package deal of 700 dollars, can't convince the parents though.

 

What are the birfs worth, the lockers? the third set up with the locker and 5.29's, everyhting to do the rear disk conversion, the housings, the locking hubs, and other various parts of the front axle. I just want to know what they might be worth to someone, any help is greatly appreciated.
