What Oil?
Hey Guys... I just bought a 94 4x4 truck with a 3.0 in it automatic transmission. Its an SR5... Very nice little truck, I hope to give my son in a few years. It has 223,000 miles
I'm curious as to what you guys think is a good oil and transmission fluid for it.
I have an 08 Tundra with a 5.7, I use Mobil 1 fully synthetic in it...
Thanks for the help! Oh yeah, first post here too!

Moved to the Newbie Tech Section.
Welcome to YotaTech! Sounds like a nice rig you got there - your son should love it! My first car was a 1995 4Runner and I will never forget it.
As far as oil goes, with that many miles, I would not recommend running synthetic. If it were me, I'd go with your choice of weight in a conventional, high-mileage oil. I'm also a Mobil 1 fan.
Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Fink

As for the tranny fluid, I've always good things about Redline products: http://www.redlineoil.com/Products.aspx?pcid=9

I run Rotella T6 5w-40 in my high mileage 3.0...it's a group III synthetic (derived from petroleum) so it won't shrink seals, it has excellent cold flow, and it's thick where it counts. There is NOTHING wrong with putting a group III synthetic in a high mileage motor...group IV (pao) is where you start to get into trouble due to its drying effects.
People have just about every opinion there is to have on oil so the best thing you can do is read up on it and decide for yourself. This site has some great info:
