what is the best engine swap after the stock 3.0

 

3.4 swap, search it, anything but a 3.0 is better, alot of guys do the lexus 1UZFE swap

3.4 Swap, it's the easiest to do and the most fun to drive, but then again anything is better than the good ol' 3.slow

 

as mentioned above, ANYTHING is better than the 3.0. including the 22re. I've only had one 3.0 and it will be my last. out of all the 9 or so yotas i've owned the 3.0 is by far the worst motor.
1- 85 4runner w/chevy 350 swap (before I understood about destroying a good 22re)
1- 88 xtra cab re
1- 86 regular cab ret manual
1- 86 xtra cab ret auto converted to manual
1- (2nd) 85 4runner
1- lexus IS (still toyota)
1- 00 tundra 4.7
1- 91 4runner 3.slow
1- 84 22r regular cab

 

The most direct fit for a 22re truck would probibly be an inline 6 supra motor... 7mge im thinking'.
