Water pump question

I did some searching and found that the outlet on the thermostat leads to the oil cooler. My question tho, is which models have/don't have the outlet and what determines which have it?

Forgot to mention that part. 3.0 from early 90s trucks and runners.

Well, I haven't looked at a 3.0 in a while, but I would think that if the hose from the thermo goes to the oil cooler, then you have your answer.
