V6 to 4cyl. swap

A guy I work with asked me if a truck that has a 6 cylinder can be converted to the 22re. I'm sure the motor mounts are different, I just don't know if the transmissions are compatible between the two. Anyone have experience with this? Any help would be appreciated.

your going backwards lol.

to answer your question the motor mounts are gonna have to be cut off the frame and repositioned, and you'll have to get a 4 banger tranny and transfer case. plus other issues depending on the year, such as speedo drive ecu, wiring harness etc.

Yea you would have to change a lot. I he is going that far why not look at a taco motor 4 or 6 both produce more ponies over their older counter parts. Now that's been said I love a 22re motor. I can actually work on it. I say he**yea. So if he loves the 22re motor then definitely. But if its just for a good motor to get rid of the 3liter then look newer not older. Find a scraped or an about to be totaled taco4x and grab it you should have most of the parts. Sorry rambling. Good luck keep us posted
