Wink v6 or 22re

Hey would like any input on the 3.0 v6 engine versus the 22re. I want to buy a 89 to 95 and a lot of people act like the 3.0 is not a very good motor. I hear the 22 re is better almost as much torque and not a lot of problems any input from the people that really know would be appreciated greatly. thanks Fast Jimmy

Wink v6 versus 2.2 re

Hey i am new to the forums and have a question . a lot of people act like the 3.0 v6 is not as good as the 22re. Any thoughts from people who know would be appreciated, because i am looking to buy a 89 to 95 and probably prefer the 22re from what im hearing. I am just looking for a nice driver and am not planning on any radical mods thanks. Fast Jimmy

22re' are more reliable and don't have the head gasket problems the V6's do but really its all about how you take car of you truck in my opinion i have the V6 and don't have a problem with it other than it needs a new pcv valve

Lot of opinions here on how bad the 3vze engine is. I don't have problems with mine still oe head gasket. Both engines are known to blow gaskets. The 6 has more power than the 4 but is under powered compared to other 6s. My guess since it is easier and cheaper to repair the hg on a 4 maybe one of the reasons it is preferred. Even the original designed asbestos gaskets are known to blow but may average longer life.

i got both, and i can say my 22re is ALOT slower, but put it in 4x4 low and its unstopable. VERY reliable, and easy to work on.

3vz- ALOT of torquey power (imo) harder to work on, i wouldnt trust beating it like i would my 22re, but so far its been so good. Its more modern, wich always has its pro's and cons, and for the amount of mpg's i get, i'd like to see alittle bit more power, but oh well

They probably have just as many HG problems as the 3vze. Its just that changing a HG on a 22re is so much easier, you dont hear many people complain. It took me like 5 hours to change out the HG on mine, and I was going slow since it was my first time. And it cost me under $200 for everything I needed. It would probably take me half that time now.

3vzes can be a good engine. They need love and attention. Most people dont give that because they think "its a TOYOTA, it can handle it". They also like to burn up the #6 exhaust valve. And they are crammed into engine bays designed for the 22re
