used supercharger question

Hello to all.

I am looking for a used TRD supercharge for my 3rd gen 4Runner, and I have a couple of quesions please.

1) What is the difference between the 1st gen and 2nd gen supercharger from TRD? (The 1st gen is gray and the 2nd gen is black, correct?)

2) Can you rebuild the the superchargers yourself?

3) Many of the used ones I see inlcude only the supercharger and pulley, or sometime supercharger only. What other parts will be needed and/or how much should I budget for the miscellaneous odds & ends neede?. (Not counting the URD fuel upgrade kit and trans upgrade, which I have a handle on).

Thank you very much!

BTW - If anyone has a lead on a used supercharger or URD fuel upgrade kit, please feel free to send a message. Thanks!

motuman,

welcome to yt and happy new years!

first, dont call it a T4R. please.

second, yes, they can be rebuilt. go to gadgetonline.com and read up there. most of your questions will be answered on his site. also go to urd.com. that's gadget's business and you'll find more answers there

also, search the forum. try the search term "rebuilding S/C" or "rebuilding supercharger" and variations thereof. the forum is a wealth of info if you search

#3 - 150$ should easily get you all the extras (including dynamic tensioner, one way valves, throttle mount, yards of hose & adapters and bolts.) Download the TRD manual (its for 2nd gen SCs). That will have a parts list you can take with you to the hardware store.
