I have seen several hitches with out bumpers not sure if any where the one you mention.

As long as it attaches to the frame you should be good to go.

As all the hitch and bumper really share are the attachment points in the frame.

If you can do the needed Fab work you should be good to go.

If you are buying new I would go for the correct one if used and the price is right go for it.

I myself would use all new hardware just for piece of mind.

Well i would like for it to hug under the bed instead of the original fit which would hang way below to clear the bumper.Thats why i thought the universal would work.

Most of the receiver hitches are made to fit with the stock bumper on the vehicle . Till you cut and fish plated a factory hitch. It is faster for me to just build from scratch

If you have the skills you could build just what you want .

It no doubt will be more expensive if you figure your labor but just what you want.

I have seen what your talking about on different trucks over the years.

Just how heavy of things do you want to drag around??

Well for info reasons incase somebody else wants to know,i found a valley class 2
from a 95 pathfiner that bolted directly to the frame, made 1/4 plates horizontal
mount, and 1/8 plates for vertical.Everything lined up in the frame. And it was only 30 bucks. It does fall back behind the bed of truck ,just moved license plate up a inch or so.
works for me....
