I have come across this tech tip. It is a simple bolt on app. The Issue I don't see addressed is where do you mount the shocks. Will you need different shock lengths? Is there a bolt on for the shocks?

 

You have to weld on rear lower shock mounts.

 

You will need to relocate your shocks which will require welding. The flip itself is direct bolt on though. I just torched some plates out of flat stock and grabbed some round ubolts from an older chevy half ton

The most popular shock layout (the one i chose) is the triangular design. When you hit something like a speed bump or a rock it acts just the same as a standard factory layout but when you're flexing it allows a lot more upward and downward travel.

You could use your factory shocks if you wanted, it's all about where you weld the mounts on. Just measure, measure and re-measure to make sure everything is where you want it.

Heres mine (I was in a hurry to get 'er done so i boogered on some lame ass mounts but you get the idea) Yes one is broken but just pretend the right side looks like the left side

And you dont have to get all fancy with it but something like this with more contact area with the axle housing would be ideal.



Shouldnt be too expensive to hire a welder or have a shop set this up for you if you arent set up to weld

 

I know the shock mounts are crap, i knew it was crap when i made it. It was like 2 in the morn. day before wheeling i just wanted to slap it together as fast as possible

Edit: Oh and yeah it's a major project she's all torn apart getting a bigger newer better motor.. the wiring is torn apart and everythings getting re-arranged so it looks kinda chaotic

Here's what I did, simple:

 

I used a bolt-on lower shock mount:

They bolt to the bottom of the spring pack and are held in place by the u-bolts:



And yes, I know the springs are reverse arched there and yes, I do have a bump there, but I found that it folds over in extreme conditions like this.
