Tune UP 2000 Runner V6

Hi Newbie here,

2000 4runner 140,000 miles. New timing belt and o2 pump just installed. Want to do a tune up. NGK or Denso plug / wire setup, what is recommended. Also is there a dist cap and rotor to buy, if so which one. Wife drives it and I dont need high performance parts, just good parts with reliability.

Thanks

No cap or rotor.

Here's the 30,000 mile service:

Engine oil & filter (asumming normal oil change interval)
Engine air filter
Engine coolant
Non-platinum spark plugs

Lubricate driveshafts, there are several zerk fittings - molybdenum disulfide grease.

Replace Auto trans fluid
Replace Diff oil
Replace transfer case oil

Clean Throttle body
Clean MAF

-If you do this every 30,000 miles, your Toyota will last well past 300,000 miles. There's nothing here that is difficult, plus it gets you looking under the hood.

Moved to the Newbie Tech Section.

OEM all the way - easiest thing to do is go to Toyota and tell them parts you want to replace and they will get you all OEM stuff.

Some stuff you can get a little cheaper online like O2 sensors, plugs, etc...

I get all my stuff straight from the dealership since I have a good relationship with them and they give me a great discount.

NGK or Nippodenso plugs are fine. I favor the Densos myself-your truck actually came with 3 of each- just to blow your mind. For a wire set yes I would stick with Toyota. Shop your local stealership and then compare to my buds at TRDPARTS4U.com they have great OEM prices.

No distributor cap as mentioned by Potomacduck-the 3.4V6 uses coil packs.

welcome new member-view and page backwards in the 96-02 Runner section for a good spark plug change writeup. t4r.org is a Runner specific forum also for a wide variety of opinions.

And of course the search function of this very forum or just google '4Runner spark plug change'
