This truck is going to drive me nuts!

Ok so some of you have seen my past post about my truck pinging! Well I started throwing some parts at it and doing some other stuff to it to try and get rid of this problem! So here we go. I put new spark plugs, wires from toyota. Did the mass air flow sensor mod. I also checked the egr and when I apply vaccum to it the egr it almost dies so I know the egr is working fine! I set the timming with the jumper. It was at 5* and it is now at 0* but I still have pinging when I get on the throttle hard! Also Im running 87 octane. So if anyone has a Idea what might be going on let me know! Thanks

What kind of pinging? You sure its not a rod knock or wrist pin?

Any stored trouble codes in the ECU? Have you checked the knock sensor out, wiring problems are common there, and guess what the KS is there to do! And when you install the timing jumper, are you seeing a change in the base timing (you should)?

ok guy last night when I was driving I got a check engine light! It was 52 (knock sensor)! And yes I did see a change in base timing with the jumper in! I have tryed higher grad gas but still get a ping here and there while on the gas farly hard! So it looks like Im going to check the wiring and the knock sensor out! I will get back to you all after I check/change stuff! I know its not rod knock!

does the 22re have a pig tail style wiring to the knock sensor or do you have to cut the wires some place and splice them in?

Speaking of Axles... I'm a new toyota guy, formerly 60's mopar street stuff. I'm pulling my hair out trying to put new CV's in my 94... if any of you guys know the little tricks that will make this easier it would be really appreciated, I'm in a wicked time crunch!!!

lol. I was thinking of that pirate joke:

A pirate walks into a bar with a peg leg, a parrot on his shoulder, and a steering wheel on his pants. The bartender says, "hey, you’’ve got a steering wheel on your pants."

The pirate says, "Arrrr, I know. It’’s driving me nuts."
