Transmission Casting Numbers on R150F
I am about to rebuild my R150F transmission from a '95 4runner and want to make sure it was not swapped at some point for another version. Does anyone know a web site that can Identify the tranny by it's casting numbers? Mine is stamped with: 50205323. These trannys underwent several synchro design changes and I want to buy the right overhaul kit. The dealer was unable to identify it by the casting number.

Is there a tag number instead?
Is it the stamp that will give a positve ID, or a tag that is possibly now missing?
OK, my friend Ed (jeepmaned) is opening the transmission. He suspects the stamp number is not what I need to know to be sure exactly which synchro design was used on this R150F. He thinks there was a tag riveted to the transmission at some point. The gasket material is orange and different then the gasket in-between the transfer case and the tranny. Because the gasket material is different, we suspect someone has done transmission work on it before.
So is everyone stumped? Do I have to post this somewhere other than the newbie section?

95 R150F Manual Transmission pictures
Ed pulled the transmission cases off to take a look inside. See the photos. It looks like the synchros are all bad and 5th gear has some goughed teeth. This tranny looks exactly like the one in the FSM: http://www.the-roo.com/4runner/Trans...omponen(2).pdf Notice that there is one shift lever in the transmission. The other shift lever is in the transfer case. (not shown) The picture shown on the previously mentioned website looks like a representative tranny, but not the R150F (but what do I know, I'm a newbie). We'll call up Marlin tomorrow to see if they can help us with some parts.
Click on the thumbnails to make them bigger. The casting number I found is on the bottom of the orange intermediate plate. Fifth gear is to the left on the first picture. Synchros are the brass rings between the gears. It's hard to see in the pictures, but the synchro splines are worn from triangles to little nubs.
