trans mounting bolt grade

Would someone happen to know what grade strenghth the bolt is that mounts the engine to the trans.I took one out and the bolt is a 12x1.25x65mmL with a 6 on the head. The FSM says it is a class 6T but I'm not sure what hardness it would translate to ( example 8.8 or 10.9 ) any help would be greatly appreciated.

What The goat herder said!!

If you do the math it works out that the 10.9 is equal to our Grade 8 bolts in USS threads

either of those two will work . What is wrong with the ones you are taking out ?? Besides you do mean the bell housing .

Or is this something unique ??

It is the flywheel bolts one needs to be careful with.

Unless your putting out over 1000 horse power i would not worry about it

You need to start hoarding Toyota bolts. I have boxes and boxes of any and every bolt that came on a Toyota truck and never have to worry about losing one.

It really comes in handy.

I just buy new ones from Pointe Products. The odd ball special ones like driveshaft etc I buy from my dealer the bolt prices are not that bad.

Alot quicker then sorting besides in the great rust belt not many bolts are useable again

what is the math? yes for the bellhousing
I need 2 because they are gone.Whoever messed with this thing before I got it had a problem with torqueing bolts, several have been loose.Yes i checked with the dealer yesterday when I was there getting a head gasket and they are $3.50.I was just curious because I can get 10.9's (yes equal to grade 8)for a 1.50 from my Fastenal guy.Thank you for the help.

I wonder if they failed to put lock washers on?? or just forgot to tighten them or just did not care.

I never seize mine and just tighten them up with the 3/8" air ratchet .

Yeah,I dont think they cared.I have found other bolts crossthreaded sticking out a 1/4in and some just plain loose, but it did make getting my harmonic balancer off pretty easy
