Torquiest 22RE?

Torquiest 22RE?
Who has the torquiest (is that a word?) 22RE? I had a conversation with one of the guys over at engbldr today and he recommended the 261C cam to me when I told him that I'm looking for maximum low end performance and as long as I can do 65 on the highway I'll be happy. He recommended no more than 4.88s/33s because he said taller gears/smaller tires would cause the cam to fall on it's face too early and the truck would be a real dog at the top end. I asked about headers and he said the stock manifold is actually pretty good but that a long tube header *might* be better-its hard to say. Beyond that what else is there? Maybe playing around with an adjustable timing gear?

I think my header made the most power of any mod.
But after the LCengineering cam throttle body larger valves port and polish it is more powerful.
I think the best bang for the buck is the header.
If you want the most torque without a turbo or supercharger you should bore and stroke the bottom end and get all the cylinder head components. It would be a screamer (for a 22re). Or for less money just swap for a 3RZ.

I'm running a 270/430 cam in the engnbldr street RV head, 10.0:1 compression, LC Engineering full EGR block off kit, LCE header and 2.25" exhaust, no cat, flowmaster 40 muffler, LCE cam gear, running a cone filter off the MAF.... 4.56's and 33x10.5's.
I wouldn't say it's the TORQUIEST motor out there, but it has a better set of legs on it than my old, tired, dying by the minute motor. Out of the 3 22re's I've had in my truck this one makes the most power, the smoothest, and I seldom feel like I want 4.88's..
That being said.. it has more top end than low end torque, 4.88's would make it get off the line better I'd say - but no matter what you do, it's still a 22re and you aren't going to turn it into something it isn't.. If I did it all again I'd go 3rz with bolt ons and call it a day.
