Tire size

I just had a guy refuse to take money from me because he said the rims on my 1997 tacoma dlx 4x4 would not fit a 31x10.5r15 tire. Those are the tires and rims that my truck came with. He refused to put on those tires because he said that it would cause excessive crowning. Has anyone else had an issue with this?

I just found another shop that will put those tires on and said they would fit ok and they are cheaper there...

I've never heard of someone turning down almost $800...

Just wanted to see if anyone knows what that was about or do morons work at discount tire?

Go to the manager about it. I don't mess with the "part timers" anymore. When I get my tires rotated and balanced they lower my air pressure to 30psi warm(after driving there) so I always have to air them back up to 40psi cold. Even when I specify leave the pressures the way I have them.

I noticed that they do that with the pressures too. They like 'em soft. (I won't go any further with that...) I like my tires aired up right to the pressure limit unless I am in sand or mud...

That has happened a couple of times to friends of mine with muscle cars. I think they wanted to mount a 195 or 205/70 tire on a 7 inch rim or a 245/60 on a 7 inch rim, it was a long time ago. Like you they just find someone else to do it.

There should be a recommend rim width on the tire manufacturers site.

Odin, you are right. My rims are small but it says right on the BFG website that the tires I want work on my rims... I don't think half of these guys know how to think for themselves. They just do what their computer tells them like a bunch of biological robots.

I think some people just give "no" answer to questions that require a little more thought or them to open a reference.

I get the "no it won't work" answer when I've warrantied out my GM alt. "Sir, that doesn't fit on your Toyota." It's kinda funny when their eye glaze over and their head tilts to one side when I explain. Kinda reminds me of a husky I had once that turned her head at new noises, she was a good dog just kind of dumb.

Red face

In these days with way to many Lawyers some companies just have hard and fast rules they have to work with .

It only takes one lawsuit with a big company it does not take long.

Even if it means turning away sales I see it every day.

Some places back in the olden days would not touch aluminum wheels
