Throttle tight

I got this my first 4runner about three weeks ago, and the throttle pedal seems stiff and a lot harder to push then my 2001 silverado and 86 olds. Are the throttle pedals just stiff on the 1990 to 1995 4runners?

The gas peddle shouldn`t be tight at all, check the throttle cable, it could be bad or it might just need a little oil to free it up.

Nice 4Runner.

Remove the throttle cable ald oil the cable, try and work some oil into the cable housing and see if that helps, if not you will need to replace the throttle cable. It would also be a good idea to remove the throttle body and give it a good cleaning inside and out, you will be amazed at how dirty it is on the inside if its never been cleaned.

Well today I checked the cable and it moves really smooth when I took it off the throttle body. The thing that is stiff is the throttle body flapper, the two return springs are on there and it all looks fine. But the thing is the gas pedal is stiff. This has to be how they all are, right. Is there a way of making it not so stiff? Has any one else had this problum? I had a friend at work drive the truck and he said the same thing that the pedal was stiff and hard to push.

If you take the throttle cable loose from the gas peddle, the gas peddle should move freely, if it doesn`t then remove it and make sure its not worn out at the pivot point, if it is then replace it, if its not then clean it up and oil it and it should be alright. It would also be i good idea to remove the throttle body and clean it, but don`t get the cleaner in the TPS, that might damage it.

There is no problum with the pedal or the cable. It seems like the return spring on the flapper is tight and it all is in good condition. I was just wondering if there was a way to make it easyer to move?

There is no adjustment on the springs, there tight to make sure the throttle closes when you let off the gas. Like ive told you before, remove the throttle body and give it a good cleaning, if its real dirty on the inside that could make it a little stiff.
