if its just the third member and they are both 8'' then you will need to do some axle housing mods to make it fit. You probably have the same gears in your tacoma so thats fine. Im not sure about wiring, im retro fitting an elocker onto my front axle of my 86 and can get a complete switch and harness from inchworm.. Inchworm also sell elockers and all the parts you need to make it happen so check out their website..

the tacoma e-locked axle is an 8". yours will be an 8.4. you'd need to swap housings to fit it.

hmmm i dont know from what i see it looks like its the 8", i got the 2.7l 3rz engine in it and i thought this engine used the 8" differential not the 8.4" but i might be wrong.

Do you know if there is a place where i can check that to make sure before i drop $300 on that e locker.

Again thank you for the info its really helping me out with this. I was thinking of getting the arb lockers but dont got that much money for that. So have been looking for answers to using the toyota elocker.

If i do got the 8.4" diff can i just get an entire rear end with the elocker already in it? would that be bolt on to my truck or would i need to fab some stuff to get it to work?
