Need help ts speedometer on my truck . Can an aftermarket speedometer been install on my truck . SO far I change the speed sensor ,no luck , 1993 have an electronic speedometer . I have a truck manual but is vague in the instrument cluster wiring . I also purchased an used cluster but returned due to be damage as well . My truck is std, v6 , 4x2 and is about to become a classic . But I have to guess my speed and don't like it . Try apps on my phone but is a hassle . Any help would be appreciated or suggestions .

 

You need to figure out just what the problem is.

The gear in the transmission might no longer be able to drive the sensor.

This happens and is by far the worst.

Damage in the wiring to the cluster

The speedometer in the cluster might be damaged.

Yes you could go aftermarket as long as the problem is in the speedometer.
