i hav a 85 single cab 4x4 and swaping for xtra cab what are some of the legal problems i could run into i live in california

 

title/inspection issues come to mind

 

Whats the year of the new cab? Dont emissions go by the year of the vehicle and if you use the VIN off the new cab and its a diff year then emissions might be different unless you swap the VIN. I dont know how emissions are in Cali but I know they are pretty strict

 

swap the cab and register it as the whole vehicle if the vin is for the other cab whos the wiser that its another on a different truck. in high school i did a body swap from a truck to runner and just registered it as if i bought the whole runner

 

I did that with my truck, swapped the cab and put the old VIN on it, its an '85 cab but as far as anybody knows its still an '88
