Sudden gas smell in cabin, takes several cranks to start my 94 4runner

Hi y'all, so just as of today, getting into my 2nd gen 4runner after work, I noticed a gas smell in the cab, and it took several cranks of the ignition before it started, which is abnormal as it's usually only 1 or 2 cranks to start up. I thought maybe the smell was due to bad ventilation in the underground parking garage as I'm on a new site and haven't parked there before. However the same thing happened as I just jumped in the truck to run to the store, same smell, same starter issue, and now I'm obviously concerned.

I'm no mechanic by any means, but first thing I thought was bad/loose spark plugs, but after that I'm at a loss. Going to call my mechanic in the morning but figured I'd ask here as they're closed for the night, and it doesn't hurt to hear some ideas.

Appreciate any thoughts or comments.
