Stupid Theives-Broken Window
#21
Sorry bro...guess You can say I fared out OK a couple weeks ago. Hadn't finished the alarm install, but heard loud "whacks" about three times, from where my rig was parked, behind work.
Went out with our shop "Be Good Stick", a 9-Iron someone used on my bosses old runner, to persuade anyone I found to "Please Stop!".
2 guys run off, get into a car, and sped off, as I approached, sum of damages...
~Chipped passenger window.
~Chip/Crack In windshield.
~2 dents on the passenger side.
Stupid ˟˟˟˟˟s couldn't throw straight or hard enough to damage anything.
**Best part is we just hooked up video surveillance, so P.D. was able to get the recording from our property management, and his insurance will hopefully cut me a check, rather than face my insurance company.
Yes, I finished the alarm install, and it's set to less than passive.
Hope all works out for you, at least you still have your rig, I had a great truck stolen in the past, and it sucks way worse.
As far as the hurting someone legalities, who's to say they didn't "First start damaging my vehicle, then came at me...".
You have the right to protect yourself, and your property. Just be sure if you make the choice to confront a thief, you can handle whatever ramifications result. Don't get yourself into something that you might lose.
Me, I've been sued on grounds of "Excessive force during attempted restraint...", which, looking at what the person did at the time, and what I was employed as at the time, got me off without a hitch, thanks to a wise and respected judge, and some friends in the force.
