Steering upgrades??

Hey guys I am Adam, new to the forums and the toyota world.. I have beast of a project/bush truck. Its an 81 SR5 lifted about 8 - 9inch on 35's with a small block 350, turbo 350 trans.. I am wondering if there are any steering upgrades??(arm 45612 in the pic)...I had the truck out today for the first time since I bought it and got it up and running... I was about 24km out in the bush coming down a pretty good trail when I snapped the steering arm...

With the high steer kits do all of them require changing out the steering box? I don't have any problems with fab work, but this truck is a very budget minded toy..

You need a steering box from a 4x4 IFS Toy. It's not cheep I just spent $400 for a hy steer kit and used steering box. It does require some fab work.

The stock steering isn`t made to handle lifts and bigger tires, thats why your steering broke. swapping over to high steer and an IFS steering box is a night and day diference. It may cost you 400.00 dollars or so for the steering upgrade, but its well worth the cost and the improvement you will see in the steering.

bummer... there goes the budget I had for the truck... $400 is what I got left and I still have to rewire the truck, replace a bunch of lights, redo all the coolant hoses, figure out if the 2nd tank is full of rust and if it'll actually work, replace both batter isolators...

they do show up on craigslist periodically--guess it depends on what part on canada you are in. might wanna update you profile to include that...

edit-think axle upgrades you are gonna destroy a birfield between the 35's and V-8...know the budget isn't there but be ready for a loud noise coming from the knuckle ball and no 4WD
also PM slacker-he is in BC and may have a stock arm off a truck he has parted...
