Starter?

I have a 1996 4Runner, and my starter went out. I found a new starter for cheap, the only thing is that it's for a 95 4Runner. Will it work or does it have to be a 96 starter?

Different motor, different starter. You can usually just replace the contacts for a lot cheaper than buying a new starter. Aftermarket starters are junk compared to your used OEM one. Contacts are relatively cheap, do a search for "starter contacts" and you'll find all kinds of info on this.

Toyota starters last forever it seems. Just replace the contact in the solenoid, and run it. Last time I did one, it cost me $5 in parts.
