is a Dana 44 the same as a 1985 Toyota axle

and a Hybrid Toyota axle???? is it the same as a 1985 Toyota axle

naw they are different too. and stock 1979 - 1985 solid front axle are the same

No they're not.
'79-'82 have no gusset
'83 has a short gusset
'84-'85 has a long gusset

Yes, the factory front axles are all the same physical dimensions so can interchange without problems. As noted above, the only significant difference is the gusseting under the driver's side of the axle housing.

Yes as I mentioned above, the physical dimensions (spring perch width, steering, brake mounts, 3rd member, axles, etc.) are all the same. You may want to get an after market axle gusset kit to brace up the driver's side. They weld on top of the housing.
