Replacement seats?

I recently purchased an 88' 4runner and I love it, but it does need a bit of work. One of the things I would like to remedy is the terrible condition of the seats, and I can't find anywhere that sells any that would fit my truck.

Can someone send me a link or something? Thanks guys. New to the forum.

Welcome to YotaTech!!!

Well, if you want BRAND new seats, might check out Mastercraft but they are pricey. Best bet would be to score some from a junk yard or off Craigs List. I put a drivers seat in my '86 outta a '92(I think...).

Yeah I went to pull a part like a month ago and picked up some '93 (I believe) seats but they wouldn't fit. I heard that they were interchangeable but they were too wide to fit in the back.

In the back? Ah yeah, you're gonna need to find some 1st gen rear seats for that. For the front though...you weren't trying to fit buckets in the back were you?

No it was a split bench like the original. My problem with the original front passenger was the mechanism. It won't move forward or anything. My driver's seat is fine though.

Hmmm, well sounds like the cable is broken. You can either order a new one from the dealership or try to make your own. I replaced the cable on my passenger seat with an OEM cable.

Well, its not only that, but the handle isn't even there. Everything that had anything to do with it moving isn't there anymore.

I don't know what the previous owner was doing.

Hmmmm sounds like he was trying to override the system to maybe be able to adjust the seat fore and aft with out it just sliding forward only.

Drivers seat is easy. Its the passenger seat thats hard because of the slide forward feature for access to the back seat.

BBP replaced his cable with an oem one, I used a throttle cable stop and some JB weld and it worked just fine.

Best bet is to keep searching craigslist, or call some parts dealers. Nix 99 is in both BBP and my area, and they have just about everything.

Welcome to Yotatech. Where's the pics?

Thanks for the help guys!

I will throw some pics up as soon as I figure out how haha. I have two on my phone. One with the top off and the other on, but they were taken like a year ago.
