rebuild pre lube

i want to pre lube the engine via the oil pressure switch hole. I wanted to know if anybody had any good methods.

also I have an '84 22R bare block and want to know where the oil pressure sender is located, (ie below the oil filter, or not.)

You would need a fitting that would screw into the presure switch hole with an oil line attached that could push oil into the engine under presure, and while doing this you would need to rotate the crank shaft to help in oiling the bearings.

The oil presure sending unit is located above the oil filter.

hey thanks alot. Im thinking of just using a hand actuated pump the bulby oval type with the hoses coming from both ends, from what i understand i only need 4.3 lbs to circulate the oil. thanks again.

i am not real sure just what it is your trying to .

The engine should have been built with the prelube all ready in place this is to prevent a dry start up where you have metal to metal contact

As stated you will need to turn the engine to lube the bottom end.

I did this to mine besides it was prelubed as I installed every thing

Disconnect the coil from the distributor cap and make sure theres no way it can get power to it then turn the key over a few times do it two or three times and you will get every thing lubed that should have been lubed during the rebuild throw the coil wire back on and start it up
