How are you supposed to replace the rear window wiper? it seems to be attached by a rivet in the center of the wiper blade, and also with a couple little screws attached to the wiper arm. how am I supposed to remove the old wiper blade?

 

You need to remove the screws. Factory wiper blade replacements are just as cheap as schucks replacements, and often times cheaper. The new blades come with new screws, so even if it requires vice grips to remove you are all good.
